Husband and wife team make their business a success in manufacturing

The Shaddix Company is a family owned & operated precast & prefab business located in Cullman Alabama. Tommy Shaddix with his extraordinary vision and passion founded the company in 1971. He was the leader, visionary and soul of the company until his passing in 2015.

Currently, Mitchelene Shaddix, his wife and soul mate of almost 46 years serves a President & CFO. Dewayne Shaddix, his son, serves as Secretary\Treasurer, CEO & COO while his wife Tracey Shaddix serves as Vice President.

  • 1970

    It all began nearly 50 Years ago

    The Shaddix family business dates back almost 50 years. They have been manufacturing precast products since 1984 and prefabbed septic tank forms and hydraulic operated set beds since around 1991. The company was not founded as a manufacturer, but evolved into being one. After years of being a salesman for various companies in the plumbing supply industry, Tommy Shaddix had a vision and passion for owing his own company. So in 1970 he moved his family to Cullman and begin to chase his dream. With the help of his wife Mitchelene they opened a Plumbing Supply warehouse called “House of Plumbing” located in Good Hope, Alabama. Tommy then begin to pursue experience as a plumber where he successful studied and passed the state Plumber Board Master's exam and became a Master Plumber in 1971.

  • Manufacturing & Servicing Septic Tanks

    After purchasing a trenching machine, backhoe and dump truck, the plumbing business was expanded to include the installation of water lines & sewer lines both for residential and commercial use. Then in the first part of the 80’s the business begin to install septic tanks for the general public. In 1984, Tommy Shaddix with his extraordinary vison and the assistance of his wife Mitchelene and son Dewayne decided to begin manufacturing their own septic tanks for use in the installing process and in 1986 added pumping of septic tanks to services offered to the public.

  • 1988 - 1991

    Manufacturing Becomes our Main Focus

    In 1988 the services offered to the public was discontinued and the manufacturing of precast became the main focus. Tommy Shaddix then begin to put his mind to streamlining the precast process and brilliantly designed a new type of septic tank form followed by re-design of the set bed to include all hydraulics. Somewhere around 1991 the business evolved again to add the prefab division which markets and sells septic tank forms and hydraulic set beds thru out all North American and even into other countries.

  • Expansion

    With the expansion into a new plant in 1999 the precast division decided to enter the manhole and large septic tank market. Products included but was not limited to: 1000-gallon, 1000-gallon lowboy, 1250-gallon, 1500-gallon, 2000-gallon, 2500-gallon 3000-gallon, 3500-gallon, 4000-gallon, 4500-gallon, and 5000-gallon septic tanks, grease traps, storm shelters, parking bumpers, replacement tank lids and storm and sanitary sewer manholes. These products were made available as single sales or in wholesale quantities. Individuals or contractors buying Shaddix tanks also purchased pipe, fittings and other accessory items.

  • 2003 - 2006

    New Prefab Business Opens

    In 2003 the company was acquired by a larger precaster and Tommy & his wife retired while Dewayne & Tracey stayed employed with the new company. In 2006 Tommy decided retirement was not for him and with the help of his loving & devoted wife Mitchelene decided to reopen the prefab division.

  • Alabama Safe Shelter is Formed

    In 2008 the company begin the process of reopening the precast division by beginning to make storm shelters. A separated company, Alabama Safe Shelter, was formed for the marketing and selling of these shelters. In 2009 Dewayne rejoined the business followed by Tracey in 2014. With the family reunited as business partners once again a rekindling of the passion and a new vision for the business was established.

    Currently in New Location

    The current business' location at 344 County Road 1177 is just off AL 157 near I-65 which allows the marketing of products in counties north and south expeditiously. It also makes it easy to have visitors. Don't just pass by when you're in the area. STOP IN!
